Welcome news on easing traffic congestion in the M3
About a year ago we posted on the decision to bring forward the completion date for the widening of the M3 between Junction 4a, the junction for A327 Farnborough West, and Junction 2, the intersection with the M25, in both directions. That post can be found here.
Further news on the scheme is now available and the good news is that there has been no change in the target completion date which remains as Spring 2015. Work is expected to be begin in March 2014.
The upgrade from 3 to 4 lanes of the 13.4 mile length of motorway will be achieved by implementation of a ‘Managed Motorway’ system. This will involve using the current hard-shoulder as a lane. The hard shoulder has already been upgraded to motorway standard along many parts of the relevant section of the M3.
