My Favourite Local Businesses Part 2

This coming Saturday, 7th December, is Small Business Saturday in the UK – a day when we are all encouraged to support our local small businesses.

As a proud resident of Frimley Green, I thought I would take this opportunity to plug some of the wonderful small businesses we have in the Village and surrounding area – all of which I have had the pleasure of dealing with on many occasions in the past few years.  Click here for Part 1.

For Part 2, I’m concentrating on places to go for a nice drink and perhaps something to eat.  We’re truly blessed in Frimley Green and surrounding villages to have some of the best pubs in the Borough.

The Old Wheatsheaf – Frimley Green Road, Frimley Green
Officially the best pub in Surrey Heath after being awarded Camberley News & Mail Pub of the Year 2013.  Choice of real ales with Greene King as the main supplier (I love Greene King IPA).  Wide selection of wines and spirits too.  Couple this we great food at a reasonable price and a warm friendly welcome and it’s no wonder this pub continues to be rated so highly.

The Rose and Thistle – Sturt Road, Frimley Green
If you’re after a bit more hustle and bustle and a slightly younger crowd then this is the pub for you – especially during the Lakeside darts tournament when the pub becomes a sea of orange as the Dutch supporters gather and play darts.  The pub itself has a keen darts team that competes locally.

Once again a fine choice of real ales and imported lagers, extensive wine list and sumptuous food.

The White Hart – Frimley High Street, Frimley
With it’s prominent position in Frimley Village, this is a firm favourite with many.  Large screens to watch sports, plenty of space for a larger gathering, good selection of beers and wines and a traditional British pub menu mean this pub has something for everyone.

Lakeside Hotel Complex – Wharf Road, Frimley Green
Not a traditional local business but one that is proudly part of Frimley Green village life.  As well as the two hotels there is also the cabaret venue and Beepy’s nightclub.  If you’ve never visited a session of darts at the Lakeside, you haven’t lived!

And if all this gets too much, you might need a trip to . . .

RAM Chemist – Beaumaris Parade, Paddock Hill, Frimley
I confess that I meant to include this in yesterday’s list but it seems quite appropriate here.  With so many chemist outlets now taken over by the ubiquitous chains, it’s nice to find a local independent thriving up on Paddock Hill between a national supermarket and a national pizza chain.
