Further to my post last week about recycling, I had a very promising reply from SHBC today.
According to the new EU proposals, if the Council can demonstrate that their current arrangements are practical, efficient and maximise all areas of recycling and discourage waste, they should be able to keep their commingled system of recyclable waste collection.
As was pointed out in their reply, Surrey Heath are one of the top Boroughs when it comes to the amount recycled. So if SHBC can’t convince the EU that their current strategy is close to optimal what chance does anyone have.
Here’s hoping that common sense prevails.
