Bob and Roberta Smith to stand in General Election in Surrey Heath

Barn in Snow

I spotted a story a couple of weeks ago that British artist Patrick Brill, better known by his pseudonym Bob and Roberta Smith, is intending to stand at the General Election in Surrey Heath as a protest at what the current coalition has done to Arts education since it has been in charge.

His manifesto is here…

Mr Brill famously wrote a letter to Michael Gove on the subject, that you can see here…

More recently, and in the interests of balance, he’s also penned a letter to Nigel Farage, which you can read here…

As a lover of art and photography, I welcome Mr Brill’s inclusion in the candidates’ list and I hope it will make for a lively and interesting debate. And I look forward to correcting him on a few points in his letter to Nigel.
